About The Editor Jessi Irick
With a Bachelor's Degree in Professional and Technical Writing from Utah State University, I have focused my skills into the editing field.
When editing other people’s writing, I can catch errors and needed improvements that most people miss. I have a knack for mechanics and grammar, and have learned how to achieve the best layout possible. I am also capable of recognizing how a sentence or paragraph could be improved to be clearer and/or more appealing. Having juggled school, part-time work, and two kids before graduating, I can definitely be depended on for balancing my time and sticking to a deadline because of my organization skills. Communicating with people is a particular strong point of mine, which comes in handy when trying to be time efficient. I can make a personal promise that I am able to stay on top of my work and do my work well.
I am proficient in using all Microsoft programs as well as most Adobe programs-- especially InDesign. This comes in handy when I am needed to edit different types of documents for people because I will know how to use the various programs out there. Even if I haven’t used a specific program, I am confident that I can figure the program out in a short amount of time because of having used similar programs.
I have become accustomed to Photoshop and Illustrator, so no task is too large!
I am also familiar with and able to edit for both MLA and APA documents.
As someone who desires to work from home, I have become a diligent worker who is committed to keeping promises, especially when pertaining to completing my job and meeting deadlines. I like to take on multiple responsibilities, though I will be honest when I have met my limit. As a mom to two young kids while I was in school, and a wife to an Engineer graduate student for four years, I know that I mastered the art of balancing my time as I attended school, completed projects for classes, took care of children, and completed independent work for companies.
My current passions in life revolves around my growing family of (now) five, but I try to squeeze in my own enjoyments: Reading, journal writing, editing, and talking as much as possible (especially to adults whenever I can seize the opportunity).
